Question of the day

This week would have seen the 50th Glastonbury Festival had it not been for coronavirus, so we want to hear your best celebs-at-the-festivals stories.

Today’s Question: Who have you spotted out and about at the summer festivals? Who was raising hell backstage, and who was staggering about mashed with the public?

Send us your stories to hello@popbitch.com and let’s relive a little festival magic while we’re all stuck indoors. There’s goody bags in it for the best.

Nominative Determinism of the Day: The photographer collecting memories of Glastonbury is… Emma Stoner!

Maradona’s secret stash

Today (June 22nd) is also the anniversary of Diego Maradona’s infamous ‘Hand Of God’ goal in the 1986 World Cup.

Maradona has always been a pretty brazen sort. When he was playing for Napoli, he would arrive back from Argentina carrying two footballs, which he’d hold up as he got off the plane for a photo opp.

The balls were where he stashed his gak.

A writes: “Ronnie Kray once rang The Sun’s Bizarre desk, from Broadmoor, asking for a copy of The Locomotion by Kylie Minogue.”

More celebrity kleptomania

KR writes:
“My mate’s mum worked as an extra and was once roped in to appear on This Morning when Richard and Judy were on it as a ‘random member of the public’ to have a makeover.

“On that same show was Eartha Kitt. The presenters and other staff were amazed to find Eartha had snaffled every bit of cutlery she could find and left with it.”

Gove’s far-flung support

K writes:
“I used to work at the Foyles bookshop at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush (no longer there) and served more than my fair share of celebrities.

“The one who stuck out was Michael Gove, buying a travel guide to Austria. He was wearing a burgundy polo shirt with a football badge on the front, and he wore it with the collar flicked up, under which contained the name of Turin football club, AS Torino. Who knew he was such a football hipster?”

NH writes: “I played pool against Bob Carolgees aged seven. I’m not sure if he let me win or he was generally shit at pool but, feeling cocky, I asked who was next. And was then tin-hatted (not potting a single ball) by John Gorman.”
