The new Jason Statham?

We at Popbitch love our action movies, and so do you.  Even if you don’t, you do – you just don’t know it yet, don’t you know?  We do though, because you do.

Anyway, if you like action movies, chances are you like Jason Statham, everyone’s favourite cockney hard-man with a penchant for kicking people.  But there’s a new kid on the block, and his name is Scott Adkins.  Hailing from the tough streets of Sutton Coldfield, Adkins is an expert martial artist, an accomplished actor, and ladies, he’s quite easy on the eye too.  So why haven’t you heard of him?  Well, you might have seen him if you caught last years X-Men Origins: Wolverine (he did most of the fighting for Weapon X) or The Bourne Ultimatum (he played an agent on the hunt for Matt Damon), but inexplicably, you might not have noticed him. We can change that.

His most notable films include 2003’s Special Forces, 2005’s Unleashed (with Jet Li), 2006’s Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, 2008’s The Shepherd: Border Patrol (with Van Damme), 2009’s The Tournament, and 2009’s Ninja.  Ignore the silly titles and bask in the unashamed mayhem and unbelievable physical skill on display – he’s so good there were Internet campaigns to get him into The Expendables.

Of course we can’t rant on about him without giving some proof, so here are a few clips to whet your appetite:

If that doesn’t make you think he’s the best thing since sliced bread, then this will:

**HE WAS IN TWO EPISODES OF HOLLYOAKS**

So check him out, and hopefully he’ll end up a star – until then, grab his latest film, Ninja, which is out on DVD now.
