Digital discontent |
While Australian police were busy extraditing YouTuber Yung Filly to Perth on rape charges, the digital content world back in the UK was rejoicing over the impending downfall of the man with the dubious honour of being known by many as “the worst person in the industry”.
Female talent back in Britain had not always jumped at the chance of working with Filly because of his creepy reputation, long before he jetted off down under. But he got away with treating his crew badly because brands were in thrall to his online fame. One of his producers said, “We have all been saying for years that he will get cancelled eventually but the brands ignored us.”
Bet they wish they’d listened. Footasylum had a new series based around auditions for their reality show Locked In due out this week. But as it was built around Filly… it’s unlikely to see the light of day. |

Ol’ blue eyes takes flight |
Being a regular down-to-earth guy can be difficult when you are as famous as Paul Hollywood. Maybe that’s why he has bought himself a helicopter, to avoid being recognised? So we can totally understand why he felt he had to complain when newspapers started publishing photos of his chopper in case anyone recognised his personalised tail number (yes, that is a thing).
Paul is probably too busy to read the papers himself — if he had then he would have noticed photo desks had pixelated the number out. |

New Southport MP Patrick Hurley understands Britain’s big issues. He just started a petition for the price of Freddos to be reduced back to 5p. (Or as one of his constituents emailed us, “look at this absolute arsehole – 91k a year to dick around on Twitter about chocolate.”) |

Who’s got a new job this week? |
Which producer, and subject of a Big Question a few weeks ago is off to a cushty new job in TV, despite having left his previous studio under a cloud?
Allegations of inappropriate behaviour led to him being barred from one of the floors at the studios’ offices and then quietly eased out of his high-profile podcast altogether.
Given how many people in the industry are talking about (and livid about) this move, it seems improbable that the pest’s new company is wholly unaware. Particularly as members of the team he’s about to work for have spent years investigating male celebrities for inappropriate workplace behaviour… |

5Live had a mega shake-up this week, with Tony Livesey shunted back to the night shift.Livesey had been on drivetime for years, most recently co-presenting with Clare McDonnell. But this came to an end in May when the duo suddenly stopped appearing on air together. BBC bosses had to spend extra money lining up a different co-host for each day of the week.
What happened? Word at the station’s Salford studios is that Livesey sent a message criticising McDonnell’s presenting skills – but accidentally sent it to his co-host.
At which point all hell broke loose and she refused to work with him again. |

To bee or not to bee |
Following the recent festival appearances of ’90s R&B trio the Honeyz, diehard fans are asking what happened to former member Mariama Goodman?
Viewers of The Voice might have seen her on last year’s show, where she embarrassingly failed to progress beyond the initial “chair” round. Despite that, Mariama was asked by lead singer and founder, Celena Cherry, to get together again for a 25th anniversary celebration as a threesome, along with original member Heavenly.
Goodman surprisingly refused the offer. Apparently she didn’t fancy singing their old hit (s).
An even bigger surprise was that Cherry even asked her to re-join, after the way in which she discovered her bandmate was going solo on The Voice.
The Honeyz found out in the middle of a gig. The band were on stage when suddenly some TV cameras joined them …to film Goodman’s intro package for that show. |

Original Honeyz member Naima decamped for a career as an actor, but not before she dated both Ali G (Sasha Baron Cohen) and Ministry of Sound boss James Palumbo. |

Fred wears another hat |
Limp Bizkit are suing Universal for $200m over unpaid royalties.
Money’s been a bit tight for Fred Durst for a while, so we can understand why he’s a bit miffed. On latter day Bizkit tours Fred even took over the tour management duties to save on cash.
To delineate his roles, Fred wore a black cap when he was in tour manager mode, then put on his red cap to signal he was ready to rock.
Can’t wait to see his green accountant’s vizor make an appearance.. |

How to buy Huw’s house |
Huw Edwards’ Dulwich family home has gone on sale this week. Seeing the six bedroom mansion with double garage and library, smack bang in the middle of the area’s poshest private schools, threw up many questions for us.
First, the decor – have you ever seen as much beige in one place?
Second, the price – £4.75m? Whatever the full amount he got from his various presenting roles at the license fee-funded BBC actually was, I think we can say, it might have been too much.
And lastly – they chose an estate agents called… Pedder?

Phantom crapper strikes |
With This Morning trying to play everything straight, so that everyone forgets the Schofield-Willoughby fallout, it’s BBC’s rival offering Morning Live that’s getting a bad rep as a filth-fest.
In an email sent to staff to remind everyone of how to correctly ‘look after their environment’, HR complained that: ‘The loos by the production office (both male and female) have been filthy during studio and office hours again. Please don’t make someone else clean up your mess!’
Morning Live employees were encouraged to be considerate of their colleagues by using the flush, cleaning the bowl with toilet brushes and using the sanitary bin provided.
And if that wasn’t clear enough, the email finished off with a huge poo emoji. |

Time to say goodbye |
The famous ITN atrium has been a bit cluttered this week as the production team on Jeremy Vine’s Channel 5 show decided that now was the time for a clear out of the storage room containing all their props.
Notable items include a cardboard cut-out of Angela Merkel, a basketball hoop, a fish tank, a disco ball and a paddling pool.
Normally filling the atrium with all this junk wouldn’t be a problem, but for some inexplicable reason Il Divo were booked to appear on ITV London this week.
Without a suitable “green room” the popera group were left having to mill about amongst Jeremy’s hoarded belongings. |

The soil is rotten |
Chaos and mutiny in the usually sedate world of Home & Gardens this week, as their design awards have been thrust into a scandal that may go right to the top!
The three Interiors judges Kit Kemp, Charu Gandhi and Nicola Harding seem to have awarded three of the top prizes to… themselves!
Kemp’s business won for ‘spectacular co-ordinated collection’, Gandhi’s company Elicyon won ‘best remodel’ and Harding’s got ‘best craft of colour’.
And the award ceremony itself? It took place at the Firmdale Hotel (also founded by Kit Kemp). |
