Robbie’s death pinch |
With attention back on Robbie Williams ahead of his Netflix documentary this week, those who worked on the Rock DJ video have been reminiscing about their time on set.
The video famously featured Rob taking off all his clothes, tearing off his skin, then plucking both his buttocks off and throwing them into a crowd of rollerskating women.
Robbie’s arse wasn’t the only one to suffer a graphic injury that day. One of the extras was sent home on full pay after Robbie pinched her bum so hard, he apparently broke the skin. |

Wilder than she sounds |
Kirsty Young was recently asked what advice she would offer her younger self – to which her answer was “Do the drugs and shag the guy.”
Her explanation (that she was too much of a worrier in her younger years) made it sound as if she’s lived a life of total abstinence – but we’re not sure that’s entirely the case. Back in the early 00s, when she and her husband were first married, they were big mates with one of the chefs at Soho House whose generosity with coke was legendary.
So she’s not been quite as hard done by as the soundbite suggests. |

Angela is the people’s choice |
A few people took a guess that the Labour MP who’s been sinking multiple bottles of wine a night in last Thursday’s Big Question was Angela Rayner.
It’s an understandable guess, but it’s not her. That said, there’s no denying Angela likes a drink. She’s an extremely convivial presence at the pub. In fact, even a lot of Tories speak very fondly of her, saying she’s great company over a bevvy or two.
An endorsement she apparently lives in fear of becoming public knowledge, in case it ruins her Tory-hating image. |

A little hint of bush |
When Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts had their brief romance in the mid-90s, everyone working on the PR for Friends was keen to make the most of the fact that the two stars were dating. However, they also knew they couldn’t very well stage a bunch of shots of the couple together in case it looked like an obvious publicity stunt.
Instead, they hired a friendly photographer to take pictures of the pair of them out and about. And to add a realistic “candid” touch to the shots, they had the photographer bring a potted bush along with them, which was placed just to the side of the lens so it looked like the pictures were taken surreptitiously through the leaves. |

All quiet on the Wootton front |
Even though the probe into Dan Wootton is officially ongoing, GB News’ recent announcement that Boris Johnson is joining their roster makes it seem increasingly unlikely that Wootton will get his £600,000p/a slot back.
There’s another major tell-tale sign too. Dan’s put the house he bought earlier this year back on the market. At the time, we heard he’d got the new pad for £1.25m, but is looking to get £1.8m for it now.
Which is one way to make up the earnings shortfall… |

>> Where there’s a Will << |
…there’s a WaPo |
Former Murdoch lackey Will Lewis has just been named the successor to Jeff Bezos as the CEO of the Washington Post. It’s proving a slightly divisive choice among journalists, given his history.
Lewis was a big figure at News International around the time of the phone-hacking scandal. When that story broke, Lewis was moved from his job of general manager at News to head up the company’s Management and Standards Committee (MSC). And it was the MSC – under Lewis’s eye – that was very swift to release confidential emails to police which led to the arrest of many journalists and the conviction of lots of sources.
He was so disliked that he had to enter the office through special security to avoid other staff and his team worked in isolated, sound-proofed offices. So maybe WaPo can give up one of their podcast studios for him to move into. |
